According to NigeriaFilms, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido was the brain behind the wave-making video 'Ile Ijo' of estranged music partner of Square Records, MayD that led to his departure from ‘Square Villa’, owned by award-winning twin singers called P-Square and their elder brother Jude Okoye otherwise known as ‘Engees’.
Davido was the one who financed the video production and he has also been the link to May D’s breakup with Square Records.
Davido reportedly was a jolly friend of ‘May D’ and who his financially buoyant to shoot musical video for his friend despite that he was signed under a recording company, the Square Records. Although the two young singers have been collaborating for a while, Davido's interest was to get May D signed under his owned recording company HNK Records and he has been making all efforts to convince him with every opportunity after his debut single 'Sound Track' under Square Records.
Sources also disclosed that after the release of his three singles with the recording company, May D has been helpless and anxious to get all the promises the recording company made to provide for him such as a well-furnished apartment, car, money and other items under the terms of the agreement. Some believe that May D was rather impatient to settle his differences with the chairman of Square Villa, Jude Okoye over the issue of 'Ile Ijo' video sponsored by Davido and of-course the lies fabricated that he had been dismissed from the Square Villa.
Another source close to P-Square disclosed that ‘May D wanted to move ahead with his life and career despite that Square Records was a big name and wealthy recoding company in Nigeria's entertainment industry, but many people don’t know financial status of the singer May D.
Despite that as an artiste under the label he was given all access into the Square Villa and autos, he does not see himself remaining for so long at the mercy of P-Square and their brother.
May D still stays in his family house in Magodo; most times Davido and other of his friends come around to pick him out for a party and this has been a major concern for him. The controversial video, 'Ile Ijo', has been at the top of most music chats in the country and enjoying massive airplay. It was directed by leading cinematographer; Clarance Peters and spiced up with a brilliant performance from award-winning ‘Kaffy The Dancer’ and other appearances from May D and Davido’s friend; while none of the Square Records members made appearance for the video.
May D already has his own record label called Confam Entertainment. When asked if he has any other artiste signed on the record label, the singer said “It’s just me for now, I have some girl from UK but I’m still watching”
